Yup, I also had a Pinto, from October 1970 until May 1981. Paid $2000 out the door for the thing, so I got my money's worth. It had the smaller English engine (1600cc) rather than the larger German engine (2000cc). Someone referred to it as Detroit iron, but mine was made in Canada, so maybe it should have been referred to as Windsor tin.The car had almost sports car qualities in handling, and during a rally I put it on its side. A couple of folks helped me push it back onto its wheels, and off I went again with only minimal damage. In 1972 I put BF Goodrich T/A radials on it, and have been a fan of those tires ever since. I've had my '95 Miata for over 9 months now, and it has over 11,000 miles! It is my "fun" car and since I live in San Diego, I have plenty of opportunities to have fun. New Year's Day I put over 200 miles on it, all top down, celebrating the new speakers, 10" woofer, and 300 watt amp I bought myself for Xmas (I love getting my own presents. . .I always end up getting just what I wanted!). So, I guess many of us were into Pintos before Miatas, mostly because of economic conditions. But I also have to admit that I had a Corvair from 1967 until 1968, followed by three Corvettes, a Camaro, the Pinto, and then a host of "family" vehicles, until the Miata. Oh yeah, I guess I did pick out god's color--angelic white..... Rainer [Mainstreet Data BBS the intelligent computer place] [voice: 619/967-9100 bbs: 619/439-6624 email: info@msd.cts.com]
