From: "Brian K. Dore'" Subject: Shift Linkage Problems Date: Wed, 3 Jan 1996 12:45:05 -0500
Happy New Year, On my way to work this morning I stopped for gas and when I tried to leave, my car wouldn't shift. It acts exactly like Sean Timm describes in the archives of 7-95 under the subject "my car won't shift." The reverse gear seems to be stuck. Today is my first day back at work after two weeks forced vacation for the holidays, and I didn't want to leave it at the Gas Station / Shop N Rob, so I had it towed to my nearest unfriendly Mazda dealer. They don't expect to even look at it until Friday. If I can find out exactly what the problem is, and how hard it is to fix, I would really like to get it back from them and fix it this weekend before they start taking things apart. There was also a message with a letter to Miata owners describing this problem. (Mine is an early '90 model) If there is any documentation or references that might make their job easier, reduce my costs, or help out, I'd appreciate knowing. I don't like the idea of my car sitting out in their back lot, uncovered. It rained here yesterday, and the car is too dirty to consider putting the car cover on. I can't wait for my crankshaft nose to break, then I will have had EVERY common problem with the Miata happen to me. Brian K.
