From: HEDavey@aol.com Subject: Bought my first Miata yesterday Date: Wed, 3 Jan 1996 15:42:25 -0500
Hi everyone, I finally got my first Miata! I was still having a hard time finding an M-Edition around the San Francisco area, so I sent e-mail to all of the main members of SAMOA--Sacramento Area Miata Owners Assoc.--that were listed on Miata.net. One nice guy (Steve) happened to see an ad in the Sacramento newspaper for a 94 M and sent me e-mail. I went to Sacramento yesterday and bought a very nice M-Edition with 10,000 miles, a factory hardtop, factory cup holder tray, and an ignition-kill security system for a decent price. I was late finishing up with him and the dealer (leased car), so I cruised all the way back to the Berkeley area (90 min.) at high speed. Very smooth. I like the way the 1.8 revs as opposed to the 1.6, it feeels a little smoother, more powerful, and more stable. I'm going to be buying factory mud flaps, a roll bar (my wife's idea. . . I think I'll get the chrome kind that looks like twin inverted U's), a Mazda bra, and a factory wood dash kit. Let me know if any of you have any suggestions or ideas. I do have one question. The manual says not to leave the soft top folded down for extended periods of time. However, it really isn't convenient to constantly remove the hardtop, so I can put up the softie. I was planning on leaving the hardtop on for about 3-4 months during each winter. Will this really have a bad effect on a vinyl top? (Cloth top I could understand.) Thanks to all of the kind people that responded to my past posts asking for help in finding an M-Edition (especially Skip). I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with this car. Have a Happy New Year. Hugh 94 M-Edition
