From: Brian Goodwin Subject: More on Headlights Date: Wed, 3 Jan 1996 21:55:30 -0500
I have been watching the headlight discussion with interest. My lights are still stock and after a long day at the office I would sure like something brighter. The first option I would like to know about are the drop in Hellas. How much cash are we talking for the 90/130's? On changing the whole setup- -----If I don't go with Hella drop in replacements then I would really like something different. The low profile pop up doesn't do it for me. The non-popup square units from Brainstorm don't thrill me either. I want a non-pop up flush with the hood and fender lines and consistent with the miata design yet I can't find anyone who does this. In an old Miata magazine there was a picture and article by a fellow who used infiniti twin round sealed beam units under transparent lexan (?) to create a look that was non-popup, smooth with the hood and fender line and curvy like the rest of the miata. I sent for his directions but the total cost to install was looking to be something like $700 bucks. Nonetheless, if anyone out there has done this conversion please write me with the details. The round sealed units go well with the rounded lines of the Miata front. I also saw (again in an old miata magazine) a picture of a Eunos from Japan that had very small sealed units built in to a popup replacement panel painted body color. Don't have any idea where to get those. If anybody does please let me know. Brian Laguna Blue--soon to be Whipple charged--94.
