Werner: The shield is only there to "cut the light in half", so it shines only on the upper half of the reflector. Keith: When I put the 80/100W bulbs in a Honda Civic, the pattern stayed exactly the same, and those were stock reflectors that showed absolutely no sign of a similar beam pattern before the H4 bulbs were installed. Werner: I bet you still had a clear cutoff, but no triangle on the right side. Keith: Taping over the glass will cut part of your beam, but I'll bet if you put UK bulbs in your continental reflectors, you won't notice a difference from a full UK setup. Werner: I'll take your bet on that. I think bulbs in the UK are similar to those of the continental Europeans. Take a close look at an H4 bulb and try to identify the area that produces the triangle. There is none. How about a Miata.net windshield sticker? If we cannot agree until then, I will buy a "British" bulb this March on the "3rd Miata trip to London (UK)". Werner Red 91A, Marburg, Germany
