Well, Paul, I'm afraid you may have stuck both your accelerator and your clutch foot in this one - the Miata is "not much sports car" - ??? In terms of pure acceleration for stock vehicles, you're right, of course - your RX-7 will run away from a Miata. So, by your criteria, I guess an AA Fuelie would be a REAL sports car, eh? My point is that there is a lot more to a sports car than pure acceleration - always has been. Look back at the smaller and lighter sports cars of the 30s, 40s (such as they were) and 50s. The MG-T series were some of the slowest things on the road, but they were head and shoulders above anything else in the fun to drive dept. I like acceleration, too, and in my opinion the stock Miata is a bit lacking there (hence the turbo installation) - but it was just as much of a sports car before the turbo, as after. The Miata is small, light, nimble, tossable, and a blast to drive, with a top that requires little more than thinking about it to raise and lower. All this in "not much of a sports car"-???- I'm keeping my "not much of a sports car", thanks, anyway. --Jack M. & KANSEI--
