Three were A package cars and three were B pacakge, all with A/C. The colors were: Raspberry Metallic (same as used on the MX3, I think) Medium Blue Metallic Yellow Metallic (about the same shade as the 92 Sunburst Yellow but with metallic) Teal Green metallic, (looked great) Light Green Metallic Orange The cars were removed from the assembly line and painted at the factory, returned to the line for completion and shipped to the Mazda design studio in Irvine, CA. They were used for a color evlauation clinic at the desigh center and as far as I know, they were not used for public showings. There were also some 323s and Proteges. The color cars were kept at the design studio about 14 months (second hand info) and then offered for sale to the employees. I have a copy of an Interoffice Correspondence memo offering four of the cars for sale. The owner of the light green Miata sent me a photo of all six Miatas at the design center. It was copied on a color copier, so it is not photo quality. I have a picture of four of them taken during the ceremony when one of the pre-production prototype Miatas was given to the San Diego Automobile museum. If someone wants scan it and post it to the Miata.net, I will loan it with a promise to return it. On the window sticker, in the block "Color of Your New Mazda" is says "Various Test Colors". All six cars have an "X" for the color code. MSRP on the orange car was $15,999.00. Sorry about getting so long winded about this, I miss Sunkist (the orange car) and wish I had never sold her after the accident. If anyone wants more info, I'll send it direct and save the bandwidth. Does anyone know of any other one-off Miatas? Skip Cannon
