From: Jon Richings Subject: Wooden Dash Date: Sat, 3 Feb 1996 16:43:45 -0500
Hi, As some avid readers may remember from a week ago, I asked advice on buying a high(ish) mileage BRG LE as opposed to a lower mileage base model. Well, thanks to unanimous response in favour of the BRG, I now have said BRG. And I am as happy as the guy who designed it must be. It runs and loks like a 20,000 miler. Despite it being pretty cold here in London (UK) today, I have been driving around, top down, all day, just for the sake of it. My face hurts from smiling so much. But this feeling is not new to any of you... IS IT ! So my question is this: The soft panel along the top of the dash, mostly on the passenger side, is a different shade to the rest of the tan stuff. I don't know if it was always like that or has faded over time. It also has a couple of holes where a cellphone was once mounted. I have heard that wood dash kits are available in the US. Does anyone have any experience of these and does anyone think this is heresy to suggest making a mod like this to a LE ? I will have to find a way of re-mounting the brass Limited Edition plaque, but I don't see that as too much of a problem. Jon.
