Fred, I hate to be the one to point it out, but info on the Miata.net isn't always the straight stuff! The lighted mirrors sold by Brainstorm and PBC, and probably others, have two halogen lamps in the bottom edge. They are both quite effective. They both turn on when the doors open and can be individually switched on with the doors closed. They cannot be switched to be off when the doors are open. At any rate, that's how mine work! They are really great on the road, as they provide enough light to read by yet do not produce any glare for the driver. It's really nice to have light you can use in the interior. It's hard to totally hide the wires as they run down the right side of the windshield, but to 99% of observers, they are not noticeable. Bill Allen Seattle
