Keith,
The CAI eliminates about four feet of intake tract. It gets rid of the black
duct that crosses in front of the engine and moves the air flow meter within
about a foot of the throttle body. Getting cold air to the stock box will
help you, but nowhere near as much as the CAI. Just hang on 'til Miata 96,
I'll come up and put one in for you.
