John Emerson writes: " Prices have crept up, I think by more than the inflation rate...." Having been in the camera business for longer than I care admit, I can say inflation is not the only factor. The dollar-yen ratio also plays a significant part. There are a few cameras that are available today that were available 5 years ago, and double does not begin to describe how much they have increased. Hell, some of those cameras now sell USED for as much as a new one just a few years ago. That same situation has been used by Honda dealers for years, where they would allow a very high percentage of the origional cost toward trade-in of a new car, which had moved up the price scale horrifically. However, I do agree with John, I do hope that Mazda can see their future would be inhanced by producing cars across the spectrum of prices, this would keep the enthusiast happy, and allow the company to make profits on those that want a little more 'luxury?'
