Private pilots have been using 6.0 lbs per gallon in their calculations for years. This applies for both 87 octane (red) airplane gas and for 100 octane Low Lead (green). I should think car gas is the same. Engine oil is 7.5 lbs per gal. The only way to get to the bottom of this is to weigh same gasoline. My calculator says the Miata gas tank volume is 1.59 cubic feet. Lance Schall Boulder, Colorado
