Here in Alberta, providing you have two outside mirrors, you can paint the inside of the rear window black if you want. They don't care if you have an inside mirror or the ability to see rearward from inside the vehicle. It would be interesting to know Ontario's stand for sure. If you only have one outside mirror, then you must have a functional inside mirror with unobstructed rear vision. My MGB has a vertical rod mid-centre of the windshield to which the rear mirror was attached (adjustable up and down) on the earlier B's, but on mine helps support the windshield frame centre top to the dash. A stress reliever. Like the MG was supposed to be.
