M-Netters: My buddy, Paul, (who has the God's color Miata (which is not only a year newer and some 12,500 statute miles younger than mine but is also totally dentless (does this sound like genus envy?) loaned me his Meguiar's plastic cleaner/polish combo last weekend. I can now, therefore, recommend it highly. I've read great things about the Novus products and was prepared to order them before I used the Meguiar's. It's not that I am denegrating Novus in any way (after all, I have no experience with it, whatsoever) it's just that, now that I know the Meguiar's kit works well, why buy the Novus when I can borrow Paul's stuff. (I'll get even with him, if it's the last Miata thing I do.) If I remember correctly, there were four ingredients. The first (I think) was No. 10, the cleaner in the white bottle, followed by No. 17, the polish in the light blue bottle, followed by an application from my own Red spray bottle of Meguiar's Clear Plastic Detailer. I don't know if it has a number or not but, if Meguiar's is looking for suggestion, I'll propound Zero. By itself, the stuff did zip. Nada. The Big Double Goose Egg. Nuttin'. It didn't disturb a quark on the surface of that window as nearly as I could tell and I looked *close*. I'm not sure it did anything positive beyond making me feel I had found a use for it combined with the other two compounds. But, I don't think it hurt. Oh, yeah. The fourth ingredient. I'll use a phrase I've always detested for several reasons and tell you that it took some "elbow grease," too. The results, however, were fantastic. I didn't think my rear window really needed polishing until I saw it after I'd polished it. It's only three years old and the top's almost never up and, even when it is, it spends most of its time in the garage. The only thing I saw wrong with the window was some light scuffing where the top's bows must rest on it when the top is down. (Yes, I have a towel on both sides of it. Soon as it comes, though, I'll have one of those neato rear window pouches you see in all the catalogs and magazines. It'll probably come as soon as I actually get around to ordering it.) When I finished the process, I saw clearly through areas where I didn't even realize I'd been missing anything. Worth the trouble. During the first step, I thought I was experiencing Deja Vue All Over Again. No. 10 looked exactly like Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Professional Swirl Remover (a.k.a. No. 9). It also smelled exactly like Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Professional Swirl Remover (a.k.a. No. 9). And, it was hard to rub off as Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Professional Swirl Remover (a.k.a. No. 9). So, I say, "If it walks like a duck . . . Any stalwart opinions on this odd coincidence? Anybody with me on this one?
