     I remember reading someplace that if you call Hertz in San Jose and 
     ask about renting Miatas, be sure to speak to a manager.  The phone 
     drones just look at their computer screens and say "no" automatically 
     when "Miata" doesn't show up, whereas the managers might have a little 
     more insight as to what is actually on the lot.

     better with a stick shift.
