We do not have the full story on the crankshaft failure mode yet, but we do know
more than who ever writes Miata Tips.

Has anyone noticed that the broken crankshaft info on page 13 of the tech issue
is incomplete?  They forgot to mention that after the VIN cut in 1991, the
design was changed and you will not have a problem.  They have got every Miata
owner nervously looking under their car!

Worse yet, the torque is listed as 120 ft-lbs.  Try this with a 1990 bolt and
see if you break it off!
