If you have a Miata, you have a need. Have you considered that Russotto has the un-coding procedure on his web page? Our newsletter has 120 copies, how many hits on the web site? Lance If you are aware of the controversy, why add fuel to the fire? There is a distinct difference between readily available and widely published. Not only did you put it in your newsletter (circulation 120 (plus going to other chapters who will undoubtedly publish it), but you put it on the list (circulation 1000), and it will probably get to the newsgroup (circulation ?). Again, why increase the chances that the code will be obtained by someone with less than honorable intentions? Having it available to someone with a need is _not_ the same thing as openly publishing the code. Think of yourself as more of a reference librarian - you can still provide the info to anyone with a need, you know where to research it, but it should still be guarded as a trade secret. I'm not to thrilled about Matt's having this on his web page, but then I'm not to thrilled with Matt's logic or thinking about a lot of other stuff (no offense Matt, but you scare me sometimes...). The damage is already done, I only hope the lack of responsibility and thinking done by the several people who have published the code is not enough to start a rash of thefts or increase the street value of the Miata radio... Thoroughly disgusted... -alex-
