I've switched at varying intervals, and haven't had a problem in the last several years. I don't think you need to worry about contamination, although there will obviously be a slightly higher proportion of old oil in the first change. But we're talkign about trivial percentages. Frank Reassuring quote for the day for us Miata owners: "Snobbery sometimes means no more than a rejection of what is truly inferior."
