I strongly recommend using Meguiars 10 and 17 to clean and polish the rear window--they were formulated to do just that. I have no idea what your definition of a "non-boutique" cleaner may be, but the cost of the Meguiars combination is trivial: you probably will have to get a new set in three years or so.
