There's a thread of e-mail going on here at work about car break-ins
in the parking garage.  (We share a garage with what's essentially a
shopping mall, and I think most break-ins are crimes of opportunity.)
The idea of a car alarm is seeming more attractive.

Somebody recently mentioned an Alpine model.  If I go looking for
something like that, is there anything I should be aware of (or
afraid of :0 ) when I visit car alarm/stereo shops?  Is there 
anything about the Miata (other than its innate Divinity) that
brings up special alarm installation issues?

(My other option is to always park near one of the Porsche 911's
that live in the garage, hoping a would-be theif would prefer the
more expensive vehicle :-)
