I read Gary's comments and didn't remember anything scathing, but I looked it up to be sure. Gary wrote: [ So let me just say for the record (and I'm sure most of you already [ know this.) [ [ Miata Club of America has not made any effort to sponsor, support, [ fund, assist, or in any other way get involved with Miata.net. [ This just proves that serving the Miata Club membership is not the [ primary focus of MCA. If it were, they would encourage people to [ check out the Miata.net listserv and Web site. [ [ Bottom line - if it doesn't generate revenue for MCA, they won't pay [ much attention to it. Just more evidence that MCA is just another [ name for a quarterly publication. The "C" is really a misnomer. I could not agree more that the "C" is a misnomer. MCA magazine isn't any different to me than Road & Track or any other "for profit" magazine, it just looks at one particular car. I've been a member (sorry, I should say "subscriber") of MCA for three years now, and a member of Miata.Net for two. I have impressed my fellow local chapter members with my Miata knowledge time and time again, and 95% of this knowledge came from the .net. I don't know what Norm's definition of "club" is, but it must be different than mine. After three years of subscribership, I've never personally contacted or communicated with anyone affiliated with MCA other than some aftermarket operators who are eager to take my order. On the .net, I've made several friendships and been able to telephone several folks to gain or give advice that would have taken a whole season for MCA to give. The bottom line is, Norm won't support or encourage the Miata.Net for one reason only... it would cost him precious subscribers. Well, this latest comment by Mr. Garrett has finally cost him mine. I'd rather send Gary some subscription money to keep the web page going... I read it more often these days anyway... kjw & TIC-TAC
