From: "Paul A. Troy" Subject: FOLLOW-UP: Semi-truck story Date: Tue, 2 Jul 1996 14:33:41 -0400
Hello again -- First off, sorry for sending the same story twice. My mail program crashed just as I sent the first story out and I didn't think the story went out. Once the server connection was re-established, I resent my mail. Having just returned from the Cook County State Police offices, I learned something about collisions with trucks: it is MUCH more important to get the carrier numbers off the door of the cab. The officer took down my statement and called the same 800 number. They told him that the trailer should have had a letter in front of the four digits. He added they may find the driver, but it may take some time. Seems like I had the right idea, just not the right information. As an FYI, get info off the cab instead of the trailer. To Rick Gill: yes, I remember those long bicycle flag poles; I had one myself!! I wonder if they still exist - otherwise, I'm making my own....... To Roger Salmon: I'll check the supports tonight. Thanks for the tip! Be safe on the road, ++ Paul -- Paul A.
