Subject: Local Miata Chapter Membership Requirements

Last I remember, a membership with the Miata Club of America (a.k.a. MCA, 
albeit the term "Club" is a misnomer) was required prior to signing up with 
my local Miata club chapter, Southern California Miata Club (SOCALM).  Does 
my memory serve me right?  Whose rule is this?  And, can this be changed 
such that membership in MCA is not *required* for membership in a local 
chapter?
