> Last I remember, a membership with the Miata Club of America (a.k.a. MCA, > albeit the term "Club" is a misnomer) was required prior to signing up with > my local Miata club chapter, Southern California Miata Club (SOCALM). Does > my memory serve me right? Whose rule is this? And, can this be changed > such that membership in MCA is not *required* for membership in a local > chapter? I will offer a quote from a letter sent to me by Vince Tidwell regarding local chapters of MCA: " One thing you need to remember is that all of your chapter members should* be members of The Miata Club of America. This is to protect the existing members since they have paid their dues which entitles them to membership privileges. This policy is not policed." * The word *should* was a handwritten replacement for the typed word "must", and the last sentence was handwritten by Vince. I should add that the benefits of MCA affiliation to a chapter includes: 1) You are allowed to use the MCA logo. 2) MCA will give you a list of their members in your area. 3) Although not listed in the letter, they publish the contact information in the Magazine enclosure. I was unable to find any other benefits in the 5 page letter. ...Gary -- ------------------------------------------------------ Gary Fischman -- Eunos Communications, Old Tappan, NJ http://www.miata.net/ gary@miata.net ------------------------------------------------------
