The zipper on my factory top died (badly) this week. While pricing new tops I came across the Robbins glass window kit for the factory top. (My factory top is still in decent shape, should last another year or two) The ad says that the glass window uses a new zipper attached to the rear top support. Has anyone seen or installed one of these? Do I have to remove the whole top and drill out the rivets in the rain rail assembly to get the window in? I know how much work it is to remove the top and I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and replace the whole thing if I have to do the work. I'm also considering alternate ways of getting the plastic window to stay closed. Adding a couple of strips of velcro seems like it might work. If I decide that I need a sunfast top with a glass rear window and I have to save my $ for a couple of months, sewing the thing shut and sacrificing the rear window might be a reasonable alternative. The rainy season has started, and I've had water behind the seats once already since my back window is always open. Replacing the zipper with a new one might even make sense if I didn't have to remove the top. I now keep my car cover with me. (Light Blue= evolution 3?) Will this thing keep the rain out? (Haven't had a chance to use it yet) What do you do with it when it's soaking wet? (Garbage bag?) Any (reasonable) ideas or advice appreciated. Thanks, Brian (I put the top up to keep the rain out) Dore' Lafayette, LA
