From: Mike McNally Subject: Some audio installation questions Date: Mon, 1 Jul 1996 14:03:56 -0400
I just took delivery on a CD changer, and I of course immediately ran out the the parking garage to start thinking about installing it. The little plastic "button" things on the carpet: are they some sort of pop-off anchor? I didn't yank real hard. There's a, uhh, thing mounted behind the passenger-side seat under the carpet (on my '96 w/leather package, anyway). The best description I can give is that it looks like a half-height 5.25" hard disk. What is it (or do I have a couple hundred megs available that I didn't even know about)? The changer has an FM option (in fact, it seems like that's the *only* interface option, which is probably OK for me) that involves a scheme to stick the little modulator unit in-line in the cable to the antenna. There are connectors that have that "I'm a standard connector" look to them; does anybody know what the antenna connection looks like at the back of the head unit? Anyway, whatever I find out, I'll be happy to summarize here (I'll even do HTML for the web site; if I drink *way* too much coffee sometime I might even do diagrams!). ______c_____________________________________________________________________ Mike M Nally * Tiv^H^H^H IBM * Austin TX * pain is inevitable m5@tivoli.com * m101@io.com * * suffering is optional
