OK, I've been holding this in my in-box because I knew input was imminent. A co-worker just bought a Z3. I've been waiting patiently for a ride since last Friday. Today I got a ride. Based on what I had heard about them here on Miata.Net, I expected it to be a cushy slopmobile. Quite the contrary. Body roll was very controlled. Torque in the 3,000-4,000 RPM range was better than my '94, but then again so was the OBD II '96 Miata I tried. The shifter wasn't nearly as crisp as my Miata's. Heel-toe was very easy, and the engine spooled up quickly to match RPMs easily, probably spooled up faster than my 1.8. The car had a touch of oversteer like my Miata. The exhaust sound was not inspiring tooling around, but growled nicely when pushed hard. Handling was pretty crisp. Like I said, I expected a much cushier car. I liked it! Is it worth about $10,000 more than a Miata? Dunno. It probably has more cachet than a Miata. Would I buy one? I'd consider it if it was priced more like a Miata. Of course, the "M"otorsport version with a BMW 6 cylinder will be killer . . . Blaspheming and heretical, but trying to be objective, Doug 1 3 5 Information Systems INTERnet dquara@encore.com Quara |-|-| Encore Computer Corp. Ft.
