Granbury Rerun Saturday August 17th (If you would like a complimentary issue of the Lone Star Chapter Newsletter-and you live in Texas-E-mail me with your snail mail address) Come and join us for a repeat of an instant classic on the Lone Star trip itinerary. This is a Saturday trip only, so those chores can wait another day. Drop the kids off at Grandma's and take a day for your own enjoyment with that cute little car who's just dying to get out and play! If you went on the previous run, we will be driving the afternoon route plus the part that was chopped off for lack of time. Lots of curvy roads await. A stop at the scenic overlook in Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose (with store and Petting Zoo) is planned for a mid point break. The drive will end at Merv and Rebecca's for food and water gun fights. I'm, afraid we don't have a pool, but maybe I can purchase a kiddie version by then. We're thinking of getting BBQ, so we'll need a couple of bucks from everyone to pay for it. If you've never been to Granbury before, you may want to check out the historic downtown square and shops. We'll depart at 9am from Granbury (not Benbrook like last time) at the Fina Gas station on Hwy. 377 at Hwy. 167. It's on the left side of the highway. There is a large white Coldwell Banker realty building on the other side of 377 and a small fruit stand directly across from the gas station. (You will want to take I-20 West and exit in Benbrook at 377 south. It will take about 25 minutes to get from Benbrook to the meeting place.) It's going to be hot in August, so hopefully starting early will help. Bring plenty of sunscreen and drinking water. Don't forget the water guns for later. If you wish to bring any food, drinks, chips, desserts, whatever, please do! Don't bring anything that will be perishable, since it will be several hours before we make it to our house.
