Face it, a lot >of the people who buy Miatas don't do it for the reasons the "select few" on >miata.net do. For those folks (with deep pockets), the ZZZ is probably a fine >car. > Finally it comes out. The Miata is to many of us a "driver's" car. It is not necessarily a car to see and be seen in. What the Miata excells at most is the twisty roads that comprise the back way home. It is not a boulevard cruiser, though Woody likes to think everybody is looking at her when I drive in all her topless glory. ;^) The ZZZ is merely a four-cylinder BMW that is new to the market. Now, the 6 will be a wonderful driver's car, but the micro Z is meant to see and be seen in. It *is* a boulevard cruiser. BTW, after looking at Cobras I decided on the Miata. I have a ZZZ/Prowler 2-sided poster on my wall amongst my many Mustang posters. The Prowler side is the one showing. I like the ZZZ. I like it a lot. But I *adore* my Miata, and for the extra 15 grand I saved, I can make her into a car that screams on the back roads *and* screams to be looked at. BTW, I also considered waiting for the Prowler to come out. Nope. I wanted a car now and I wanted one I could afford. The Miata was a choice I didn't even have to *think* about. The Prowler would have been an expensive proposition (20" tires on the rear, 18" on the front, and no spare) The Miata is a classic that people will want 25 years from now so that they can fix them up and *drive* them, much like MGs. The Z and the Prowler will not be the same. If people fix them up they will drive them in parades. That's it. I like my little fun car, and she likes me.
