Ford does exactly this with their '97 F150. They have a keyslot on the dash that

allows the driver to disable the airbag on the passenger side, making it safe

to place a child's seat in the front of the truck. I don't see what would be

so difficult for Mazda to do this, considering their new owners have the

technology available by just adding the F150 switch to the Miata. I personally

like the idea. If and when my wife and I decide to have kids, I like knowing

that, if I have to take the baby somewhere, I can take my Miata and not the

huge, cumbersome, 8 mpg Suburban.
