It is water-soluble, and will run down onto your paint. * You can safely use Meguiars Intensive Protectant. It will dry overnight, and will not run. It works for me. Keeps the top glossy and new-looking. * I would not use baby oil applied directly. I think I recall that some use a few drops of baby oil in their wash water. I think that is unnecessary if you use Meguiars Wash Gel. I have no connection with Meguiars, but I am a strong believer in their products, and use them almost exclusively.
