Hi all, Either I'm an idiot or I don't know how to use this darn mailing application. I hope this post is formatted properly. This is my first time posting. Anyway, the previous post should read as follows: At 10:01 PM 8/30/96, Mx5madness@aol.com wrote: >In your ear, Homey. I am as interested in hard performance information as >anyone. What I am NOT interested in is day after day of peoples vendettas >made public. I agree with you here. > I am also not interested in is the kind of sophistry and >one-upsmanship that has been shown so far. Huh... >I just wish that certain narrow >minded folk would get over their obsession with Norm, and get on with their >lives. Yikes! Obession with Norm? What are you implying? Obsession with Tara Banks, maybe... Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Norm's a great guy, but I don't think any of the burly men on the net are obsessed with him. Not that there is anything wrong with that. >Frankly, between the Miata, and the MCA, he has done more for us on >the list than the 'wannabes' ever could. I agree that Norm has contributed far more the developement of the Miata than the rest of us (who were driving CRXs and winking Fieros before). As an engineer his job was to contribute to the creation of the what turned out to be one of the best cars of the decade. As a smart and good guy, he gave it 110% effort and it certainly shows. That was his job and self imposed responsibility. Most of us, unfortunately, have jobs having nothing to do with Miatas. Miatas provide us with enjoyment, relaxation, and a hobby. In fact, Miatas typically suck money out of our pocket, rather than put money into it. Right away, one can see that Norm and the "wannabes" are from different sides of the track. As someone pointed out earlier, as readers, we have to filter out all the b.s. Once we do, there quite a bit of content to be read. > Frankly, ownership of one or more >'kits' does not a qualified engineer make. My point? Say your piece, then >move on. Simply because you use engineering language does not make juvenile >finger pointing any more palatable. What the "wannabes" are doing is no less noble than providing the rest of the readers with information. I was getting a bit tired of reading about miata waving and voodoo knobs. No offense. They see people being misled and misinformed regarding the Eaton/Whipple/Sebring/Bell/SC/turbo debate and they want to clarify things. Personally, I'm enjoying the discussions. Content is a good thing. To cool things down, we could start so say things in a nicer way. Here are my suggestions, Instead of saying.... "What? Are you on CRACK??? A thermal efficiency of 80%!! HA! HA!" We can say... "Perhaps you are under the influence of some illegal chemical. The thermal efficiency of that SC cannot be that high. Would you like a donut?" Instead of saying... "Your full of hot air! If your crappy 6psi doesn't destroy the engine, my cool 8psi won't either!!" We can say... "Perhaps you need an intercooler to lower your intake temperature." What do you think?? Hmmm. maybe not. -Shiv 94R/95M Hybrid \014 ==============================================================================
