From: DMC Wenzel Subject: Oil change Date: Tue, 1 Oct 1996 06:51:12 -0500
It's time for that 3K mile oil change and I need your opinions on a few things. First, any reason to switch to a synthetic or synthetic blend oil? I live in Georgia and, though I think that it's irrationally cold during the winter (it'll even snow once), I'm sure that many of y'all feel that it's still top-down season. Will my standard 10W-30W be good for the 'winter'. The second question is: should I consider changing my own oil? I hear that the filter is a real pain to get in & out of the car. I have changed the oil in other cars, but they were of a simpler (VW bug) or larger (Audi- made with plenty of hood room so your mechanic, and you will need one, doesn't get cramped up) variety. How long did it take you to change your oil the first time you did it? Is the description on the miata web page sufficient? or are there some querks that weren't mentioned. Oh, one more question. If I sit in the passenger's seat (I have a 96M), there is a spot for something to the left of the glove compartment. What might that be? Thanks. DeLoris, who wishes that her miata had heated seats like it's big German sister. \014 ==============================================================================
