Someone please tell me everything that they know about "paint peel" quick!! I've got a spot on the A pillar, driver's side where the paint is just flaking off. There is no rust and the primer underneath is perfect. I don't remember any article in the Miata Magazine discussing this. I took my Miattitude to the dealership a few months ago and the service manager (Regional Big Dog) says that it is caused by exposure to ultraviolet rays (go figure, I guess that I'll just have to start driving around more inside the garage than outside). The sad news is that (according to "them") the whole car will have to be repainted because eventually this "peel" will eat all of my paint. The good news is that (I really don't mind), I was thinking of a pearlized paint, anyway. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I've decided to return to the dealership with my problem. But this time I thought that I'd have the miata@list.realbig.com Email in hand. So, SEND REPLIES to this one please. The first time through the dealership there was no offer made to help me resolve the paint peel problem - not even partially - and the Miattitude is kept in immaculate condition, otherwise. It is clearly not my fault that the paint that year was faulty. Its really kinda an embarrassment for me, and I should say for Mazda, too.
