GM had horrible problems with paint leprosy (my term) several years ago. Look at GM pickups from the mid to late '80s. Not much paint left. The light blue paint was really bad. Governments have really clamped down on paint emissions. All car companies had some paint problems just like they had problems with emissions back in the 1970s. I've been pretty lucky with my white '90. There's one here in Houston that is in pretty bad shape. Mine was made in April of 1990 so maybe Mazda made some running changes to the paint formula before my car was made. I will NEVER buy a first-model-year car again!!!!
