Ultra Violet rays from the sun caused the paint to peel?  Well if that's 

the case my 91 (never been in a garage but covered in/with the snow) 

should be in terrible shape by now.  Actually it's in great shape other than

stone chips.  Are you in a strong sunshine state (Fla., TX, AZ)?  

I did have a paint peeling problem with my 91 GMC conversion van that I 

thought was due ice conditions and my abundant scraping.  I asked my body 

shop about painting it and he advised me that GM would cover the $2000 

paint job.  Bad primer.  GM and I believe either Toyota or Nissan ran 

into the same problem in the 90-91 models.  It's called, "top 

delamination" and was covered by GM.  Maybe Mazda used the same batch of 

primer...I don't think you can tell if it is bad just by looking at it.  

Get a second opinion...
