They're said to be pretty good for wet traction. Tire Rack sells the OEM size for around 53 bucks and I hear some local shops will match that price. The Tire Rack isn't that far from Mokena. You could probably call them to see what's in stock and drive out to South Bend, IN and have them mounted that afternoon. I basically looked at their Web page for tire recommendations It never occurred to me to consider Pirelli tires. I don't know much about the Yoko S305 either. After 15K miles, I replaced my stock Bridgerocks with Yoko AVS intermediates. Drove 200 miles round trip to Tire Rack to buy them too. Heck. any excuse to drive the miata a long way is good for me. One wheel went flat yesterday. I took it off and put it in the bathtub to check for leaks. The valve core was loose. Then, since I was already in the bathroom, I put it on the scales. Yoko AVS 185x60 AVS on a '94 alloy rim, 26 pounds, Harry's bathroom scale. Is that heavy? Someone said their stock alloys with worn out Dunlop SP8000's were only 21 pounds, but someone else said 15" Enkei's start at 21 pounds w/o tires. I included the bolts in the weight. I had thought about SP8000's too, but I know people who said they only last 20K miles if driven hard. On wet roads, my old Bridgestones would start hopping around with my normal start from a stop sign or street light. That's a slow start too. The Yoko AVS don't hop much, although they will slip. Can't really tell you how good they are in the rain since I'm conditioned to slow down when it's wet. :) There is also some uneven pavement on my commute where my Bridgestones would go whop-whop-whop. None of my other cars did that. With the Yokos, they go snick-snick-snick. Yep, very scientific.
