Item Subject: cc:Mail Text Hello: This is in reply to Mike Menozzi about the shape and price of the new corvette. I can think of one other reason not to get a Corvette - the insurance. After aquiring our used 92 Miata about 5 weeks ago we decided to check our overall insurance policies. As we're now a 4 car, 1 motorcycle, and 1 home family our insurance costs are somewhat high. As you probably all know each car (and motorcycle I guess) are given numbers from 1 - 250 (or so) in terms of their "risk" to the insurance industry. The lower the number the better for us as consumers. The number given is based on replacement cost, parts, accident stats, etc.. All in all fairly complex. Our cars were rated as follows: 1995 Honda ST1100 Sport-Touring 1100cc motorcycle: 9 1985 Honda Civic S (daily commuter): 12 1992 Mazda Miata A Yellow: 18 1992 Suzuki Sidekick 4 door 4wD SUV (small): 26 1996 Toyota 4Runner SR5 34 I was very surprised the Miata was rated so well (as an 18). The insurance wasn't too bad. I then asked about another car I am interested in: A corvette. Here's the lowdown on a 1993 Corvette coupe I was interested in: 1993 Corvette Coupe: 56 1993 Corvette Convertible: 84 1993 Corvette ZR-1 (bigger engine, special model): 121 So, I'm just 40 years old now. I've decided to wait until I'm 50 to get the used Corvette I've always dreamed of. Maybe by then I can affort the insurance on a ZR-1 or standard drop-top vette!
