Today I changed my oil to 5w-30 to get rid of the lifter noise that I've been getting when starting the engine cold. It was my first experience changing the oil in the Miata ... had a hell of a time getting to that filter. :) FYI, I used Castrol GTX 5W-30 oil, and a Mazda oil filter. Anyways, now that I've changed the oil, I'm getting a new noise. When listening closely to the engine, I hear a random knocking noise. Its pretty faint, and has kind of a deep sound to it. It can be heard especially well with the hood open. However, you can't hear it from inside the car at all. The noise is constant, you hear a knock pretty much every second even though it is totally random. I should also mention that I filled the tank with some new gas at the same time, but I don't suspect this is the problem as the gas was from the same place I always get my gas. Any ideas what this might be? Thanks! Ryan --- Ryan Cramer - rcramer1@osf1.gmu.edu - http://www.di.net/rcramer/ \014 ==============================================================================
