} A while back in Miata Mag, someone had written about a way to make the side } marker lights be a turn signal as well. I've looked through all my issues } several times, and I can't find this info....does anyone know which issue had } it? Maybe someone could help me with doing this? Well, if you had a Canadian car, you could just hook up the side markers in parallel with the turn signal lamps (assuming the circuit could handle the extra load). You might actually be able to do it with a DRL control unit from a Canadian car. Hook up the turn signal outputs to the side markers instead, wire all the inputs except the parking brake switch as they would be in a Canadian car, and wire the parking brake switch input to ground. The tricky part (which the DRL unit already handles) is 1) The side markers should act normally whenever the turn signals are off (there's a simple two-relay solution which doesn't satisfy this behavior -- it leaves the side markers on even when the headlights and parking lots are off) 2) When you turn a turn signal on, the markers should flash regardless of whether they are turned on or off The DRL unit wired normally would add 3) The side markers stay on whenever the engine on, unless the parking brake is on. This is why you'd ground the parking brake input. Hey Parts Dood: How much does one of those funny Canadian DRL control units cost? } Of course, I *should* just leave my lights alone (after my little experiment } with making the car "wink"), but I just can't... } For that matter, I am determined to make the lights wink. I don't suppose } anyone would like to help with this? Like, I need a wiring diagram for a 1994 } car (*which* book is the right one to get for this?).....and I need someone } with electrical experience to help me figure out how -not- to blow the relay } which handles the flash to pass (which is what died the last time I tried } this). What do you mean "wink"? I thought the flash to pass relay already handled that in the '94s? Matthew T.
