Subject: Reverse Lights in Fifth Gear?!

     Hello!

     

     Around the time of a problem with the listserv (10/5), I had sent out 

     a message asking:

     

     THEN: "Has anyone else found reverse a little hard to get out of after 

     replacement of their reverse light switch?"

     

     NOW:   Last night, as I left Oneonta in upstate New York, I also 

     noticed that my reverse lights are engaging in fifth gear!

     

     Although I rec'd my new reverse switch a week before my NY State 

     Inspection, I had the tech. @ the local Goodyear dealer put it in on 

     Sat. 10/5 while my Miata was on the lift anyway.  In an unusual move I 

     photocopied the switch replacement article from Miata Mag. and circled 

     the part of the article he needed.

     

     I didn't ask him to dig the old stinking switch from the trash barrel 

     when I left (OY!)

     

     1)  Do you think he forgot to install the old washer on the new switch, 

     and this is causing all these problems?

     

     2)  If so:  Can someone describe the size specs. on this washer?

     

     3)  If not: Ideas?

     

     With the rash of recent deer incidents on this list and the nearly 

     blinding snow coming down for a few miles last night, I was on the 

     SERIOUS lookout for deer the entire hour on routes 30/206 between 

     Walton and Roscoe!!!

     

     BTW: Other than shock replacement (1/95 by then New Jersey Bill C.) 

     and zipper replacement (8/94), the car has never been touched by 

     anyone else.  ... Serves me right for letting that Goodyear tech. 

     touch my car!
