If I'm talking to someone on the phone, telling them about my trials and tribulations, I know and trust that person. If this person decided to do what you suggest, then guess what? I wouldn't talk to them anymore! > As far as you folks that have the attitude that nothing is private because it is on the AIR > we are not talking spying here. We are talking a willful betrayal of a trust. Bottom line is, trusting someone you've never met face-to-face with private, personal information, is the height of naivete'. I would never tell someone I met only from the Internet or a BBS anything that I would not want to be publicly declared. I've been on-line in one form or another since about '89. I have never, ever, written a message to someone I did not personally know that could be potentially damaging to me. The way the net works, there's no way to know who you're writing to. The person behind the keyboard is anonymous. You don't even know their gender (look at Leigh/Larry!!). I've met friends throught BBSes and the Net, and only after I got to know these people "off-line" would I ever feel comfortable sharing private infomation with them on-line. It's a pretty simple strategy that I can hearily recommend. -- ---------------------------------------------------------------- | | "Smell the burning flesh.
