Hello: Okay, now that I've got the Clearwater door and HR speakers I am ready to forge on. My next point of attack will be a new amplifier. I have spent a considerable amount of time this week doing background work on how amplifiers work and all of that. The Crutchfield catalog is fairly instructional on the things to look for in a good amp. I've even begun to try to narrow my choice of brands. I'm currently interested or have heard good things about: 1. Clearwaters (50W x 2) for $299? (I asked the Clearwater fellow and he says its not an Alphasonik as someone on the list had said, that's good as a 50Wx2 Alphasonik is worth $140) 2. Rockford Fosgate Punch 100ix (50w x 2?) for ??? Comments: Known as one of the better manufacturers. 3. Kicker 160ss (80W x 2) for $479 (Crutchfield) Comments: Known as one of the better manufacturers. 4. Lansar Optidrive 2100 (50W x 2) for $379 installed (Local sound shop) The local sound shop recommended Lansar. Says they are quite good and would be fine for a Miata. A review in Car Stereo Review didn't give it such a stellar review. Others? What do others out there have in your Miatas? The Clearwater door speakers are rated for 100W so was thinking 50 or 80W would be enough to make good sound. The HR speakers can be driven directly from the head unit and can handle 30 watts. A new head unit and a subwoofer would be further down the line once I find someone with a Miata that has one working and sounding good. Any recommendations would be appreciated...
