From: marbill@iu.net (William E. Rich, Jr.) Subject: Sebring Superchargers on the Dyno Date: Fri, 1 Nov 1996 13:09:09 -0500
Greetings and Salutations, As stated in a previous message, I witnesses the Dynoing (The English language is a growing thang!) a Stock 1.8L and a Sebringed 1.8L. I wish I had the charts I could fax to people, unfortunetly they are packed with the rest of my household goods for the next eight months, On the Stock we got 99 HP and then when we adjusted the timing to 14 Deg BTDC we got 104 HP. On the Sebring we got 139 HP as stated earlier. Not to slam the credibility of anyone posting on the list, but I would like to know what were the environmental conditions? I was told that the Dynojet Dyno we tested on converts to a Standard Pressure and Sea-Level environment....does the Dyno that got 152 HP on a miata do that? Did the miata have polished intakes or any other special upgrades? I am going to upgrade to the Sebring when I finally get to a place I can call home....hopefully that will be New Mexico in May....but an increase in of 13 HP with stock components...Wow. Just be advised that the Stock Miata had no preformance increases and that the supercharged had a Borla Exhaust and the Jackson Racing headers. I am fairly sure (95%) that Sebringized 1.8L had the MSD controller on board at the time of testing. For an increase like that something has to be different. Our environmental conditions were about 78 Deg F and a relative humidity of 50%. My $0.02 on the issue.
