Had my first opportunity to use ABS under real world conditions yesterday.  

Pouring rain, driving around a bend at ~40mph (traffic flow slightly slower 

than usual).  Suddenly cars in front braked hard because someone else lost 

it and spun around.  I Thought I was gonna rear-end someone.  Usually (I 

think) I can work a ABS-less car.  With ABS, the car just followed the 

curve and stopped/slowed well short of the guy's bumper.



I doubt I could've done better under those circumstances and even if I did 

I would've scared myself pretty bad.  I'm glad I insisted on getting ABS 

when I wanted a new car.
