I did the same thing on my '90. I was told the dealer only sells the entire dashboard wiring harness for a couple hundred dollars. I went to a local junkyard to buy a trim piece I needed to replace, and while there I asked them to check the back of stock Miata radios. They had one with the harness dangling from it (cut out of the car). They threw in the harness with the other piece - no charge! It was simple to reconnect it to the cut wires in the dash.
