Jeff asked... I was wondering if anyone has experience with studded snow tires and tire chains on the miata. Should I get smaller wheels so that I can put narrower tires on for the snow? Is there enough clearance in the wells for chains (cable type)? I am running Yokohama 398's (excellent all season [poor man] tire). As I live in Baltimore it can go from a mild sunny day to a snowy evening really fast and these tires have proved very reliable. I'll sacrifice a little lateral grip for good arain and snow performance, especially since the Miata is great in the twisties anyway. As for chains I use the new Z-grip steel cables on the rear with the stock tire size. Fantastic grip. Grip is so good you would sware that your miata is a lowered jeep. They're about $60 and I special ordered them from Pep Boys. I'd reccomend them to anyone with a performance car who needs a little winter grip. Jae B.
