From: (none) Subject: San Diego & San Fransisco help! (no miata content) Date: (none)
OK, if you are not familiar with the San Diego or San Fransisco areas, then you are *really* wasting your time reading this message, since there is no miata content.... I need help in planning a road trip for both San Fransisco and San Diego, both originating in the Los Angeles area. Now, *I* have been to both of these places before, but my cousin & her boyfriend (both from Turkey) have not. They will be renting a car (no, not a Miata, but definately a convertible) and spending a total of 3 nights in San Fransisco and, later in their trip out here, 1 night in San Diego. SAN DIEGO: I'd like to know what a good place for them to stay might be. I already have a map & directions for a great top-down drive into Julian, but from there I need to know how to get them into San Diego proper. What is there to see? Where should they go? Where should they stay the night? I thought they would enjoy walking around the gas lamp district and having a romantic dinner there, but (having no life or girl) I have no idea where they should go. On the following day they -should- see some of the sights in SD, but other than walking around old town I'm sort of at a loss for what they can do. Help? SAN FRANSISCO: The idea I have had is this: leave LA early and drive up I-5 to get to SF in the evening. They want to stay in a hotel IN the city, and preferrably not spend tons of money. Any suggestions? On their 1st full day in SF, they want to walk around the city and see Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, etc. Can anyone suggest a good walking route? How about places to eat or places to avoid? The next day they will get in the car & drive into the wine country, so suggestions for the best wineries to hit would be good. That evening they will have their "expensive romantic" dinner, so some help in picking a place would be good. I was thinking The Crusteacean since I've eaten there and really enjoyed it, but other ideas are needed. On the third day they want to see Sausilito and go to Alcatraz -- should they plan on going to Alcatraz first or in the afternoon? Can you get to Alcatraz from Sausilito? On their last day they will be leaving early & driving down Route 1 all day (top down, of course). Thanks in advance for anyone's suggestions. :-) Happy Motoring! -ZACK |\ Kerim Zackariah Broadbent #176 CS | \ RacerZack@aol.com Cal Club & | \ red '94 Miata, "Enzo, Jr." San Diego |___\ PLAY CAR in Fullerton, CA SDMC/SOCALM 1904 ============================ Team Voodoo 24 Units until I graduate from Cal Poly!!!!!!
