Previously on strangled engine, Tom Reynolds said... > A few ideas follow. > Jackson Racing header. > K&N filtercharger or Akimoto, see below entry: > NACA duct or other modification to air intake system > Jackson Racing or Borla cat back exhaust... I think that what Greg was asking was /how/ did they reduce the power output of the engine, and is there a way to /reverse/ the disease, not just treat the symptoms. Anyone out there know what they did to the engine to de-rate it to 95hp? shorter stroke? different intake/injector setup? I suspect that it is something internal like the shorter piston stroke. If it is something like that, then the only way to undo it is to take the engine apart and replace the offending part or parts with those from the 116 hp engine. An alternative is on miata.net in the form of an engine/drivetrain for sale. Personally, I'd probably just put a blower on it. A Sebring will likely cost you no more than the other two options, and it's a lot less work to install. -John ------------------------------------------------ John Freas (jfreas@gte.net) Red '90 Base (Red Dwarf) Clearwater, Florida Team Roebuck Team Voodoo Team Redline MTL Team No hardtop posts Team "I have no idea what those dimple things on the windshield frame are for." ------------------------------------------------
