From: (none) Subject: 96 Brake on a 90: upgrade Date: (none)
Hello All, Happy New Year. Seems I am going to have to do the brakes awfully soon. Could someone fill me in on the thread about replacing the smaller 90 rotors and pads with the larger (was it 95?) late model rotors and pads. From my foggy memory I recall it being a straight swap except for a clip of sorts which needed to be used on the opposite side of the car ie. left on right right on left? If I can swap for bigger rotors, do I do the back as well. Do I use 90 pads or the bigger ones? Will there be any ill affects to the calipers? Any advice please? Also on the topic of rotors, it was mentioned somewhere that crossdrilled are not always the best way to go. Expensive, little advantage in dry, some reports of rotor failures or cracking? And who's got New Years deals on Rotors...... I had seen that Brembo offers a rotor for $29, is it a better alternative than the dealers? Lastly is there anyone who has a late model Maita that they have swapped relatively new brakes out and are willing to sell the stock set? I'd be interested. Please let me know. I can be reached at dave@echo-on.net Thanks in advance, dave b Team Miata T-Shirt Guy
